Adoption Fees

Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the donations from adoptions or just generosity from the public, help Sandoval County Animal Resource Center cover vaccination and medical costs for the pets in our care. Below is a breakdown of what one dog can typically cost before being adopted. See below the diagram for adoption fees and reclaim fees.

Sandoval County Shelter - Fee Graphic

Adoption Fees: In lieu of a set fee, we are asking for donations towards our medical fund when adopting.

Reclaim Fees: Any dog that is in our care, is subject to Select Format25 a day for care and maintenance. All animals in our care until reclaimed, receive daily care, food and if needed, medical treatment.

Adoption Inclusions:

Along with daily care costs, donations help Sandoval County Animal Resource Center cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs. At adoption, Sandoval County Animal Resource Center dogs will be current on their vaccines and will have the following:

Dogs
  • Rabies (1 yr. or 3 yr.)
  • Distemper (DHLPP or DHLPP-C)
  • Bordetella
  • Altered - Females Spayed or Males Neutered
  • Micro-chipped

Please bear in mind that puppies may not have the Rabies vaccine until 4 months of age. Adoptions cannot be finalized until Rabies and/or spay & neuter is completed. When adopting you are agreeing to have all this completed before the animal's custody is officially transferred.
